در این مطلب قصد داریم کاربرد حروف اضافه زمان در انگلیسی را به اختصار شرح دهیم تا بتوانید به درستی از این حروف اضافه در نوشتار و گفتار خود استفاده کنید.

حروف اضافه زمان در انگلیسی: کاربرد

at یک زمان دقیق.

in برای ماه‌ها، سال‌ها، قرن‌ها و دوره‌های طولانی.

on برای روزها و تاریخ مشخص.

برای درک بهتر حروف اضافه زمان در انگلیسی به جدول زیر مراجعه کنید:

at PRECISE TIME	in MONTHS, YEARS, CENTURIES and LONG PERIODS	on DAYS and DATES
at 3 o’clock	in May	on Sunday
at 10.30am	in summer	on Tuesdays
at noon	in the summer	on 6 March
at dinnertime	in 1990	on 25 Dec. 2010
at bedtime	in the 1990s	on Christmas Day
at sunrise	in the next century	on Independence Day
at sunset	in the Ice Age	on my birthday
at the moment	in the past/future	on New Year’s Eve

به مثال‌های زیر دقت کنید:

I have a meeting at 9am.
The shop closes at midnight.
Jane went home at lunchtime.
In England, it often snows in December.
Do you think we will go to Jupiter in the future?
There should be a lot of progress in the next century.
Do you work on Mondays?
Her birthday is on 20 November.
Where will you be on New Year’s Day?

به استفاده از حرف اضافه at در این عبارات دقت کافی داشته باشید:

عبارات	مثال
at night	The stars shine at night.
at the weekend*	I don’t usually work at the weekend.
at Christmas*/Easter	I stay with my family at Christmas.
at the same time	We finished the test at the same time.
at present	He’s not home at present. Try later.

*توجه داشته باشید که در برخی از موارد “on the weekend” و “on Christmas” می‌گویند.

به استفاده از حروف اضافه زمان in و on در این عبارات رایج توجه کنید:

in	on
in the morning	on Tuesday morning
in the mornings	on Saturday mornings
in the afternoon(s)	on Sunday afternoon(s)
in the evening(s)	on Monday evening(s)

وقتی می‌گوییم last، next، every، this از at, in, on استفاده نمی‌کنیم:

I went to London last June. (in last June)
He’s coming back next Tuesday. (on next Tuesday)
I go home every Easter. (at every Easter)
We’ll call you this evening. (in this evening)

مثال حروف اضافه زمان در انگلیسی:

My birthday falls in January.
Birds often migrate in spring and autumn.
My great-grandmother was born in 1906.
Breakfast is a meal which is generally eaten in the morning.
My parents grew up in the 1960s.
My vacation ends on Monday.
We’re going bowling on Friday night.
My brother John was born on September 3rd.
We always have a huge celebration on New Year’s Eve.
Meet me at 7:30.
The town is always well-decorated at Christmas Time.
Now that my grandfather is older, he no longer drives at night.
